2 questions regarding the PA12//Playback//Redundancy:
Here is my current setup: Running to laptops into two separate interfaces, into a switcher (A/B). The switcher is controlled by a SMPTE signal keeping system A (main) open. Anything happens to it and SMPTE disappears system B takes over. Nothing new so far.
I'm reflecting now about this after having seen all the PA12 videos and explanations:
Installing the LifeSine Tone on a channel in Ableton means the tone is running constantly keeping system A (main) activated. If I stop Ableton (System A/main) with the space bar the Life Sine tone keeps running and thus telling PA12 "all is good, we stay with system A".
But this doesn't lead to the necessary switch to system B (redundant computer) ?
And this again leads me to understand redundancy (system
takes only over if the USB cable of system A is being pulled out (like shown in your videos) ?
So I'm confused why system A should be kept activated through the running Life Sine tone if Ableton is not running any more ?
Question 2: I know there is a plan B by programming a SMPTE code into a track as long as the actual track is, which would lead the PA12 to stop after the track switching into scene B (red) ?
Does that mean every time I start the following track I do have to press the scene button from B (red) to scene A (green) in order to reactivate redundancy ?
Maybe I missed something and I honestly cannot find any advise anywhere and would be thankful to this Forum for some enlightenment. As far as I'm concerned this two points are crucial to me in order to decide if i can replace my system with the PA12.
Thanks a lot!
