Thoughts about Auracle with mioXL
Hi,
I finally replaced one of my ICM4+ with a mioXL. I want to share my thoughts after integrating it into my setup.
1) missing "Vanilla-preset"
Due to the lack of toggling whole checkbox matrix it took me ages to create this vanilla preset manually.
really frustrating monkey work to have to make thousands(!!!) of clicks before beeing able to start using your product
2) enabling/disabling RTP
What do you think about globally en-/disabling RTP functionality?
Pretty sure i am not the only one who has a wired-only setup. The GUI would be less bloated.
3) missing one level of configuration
in iConfig it was possible to achieve something like that:
device A send MIDI-clock to device B but not to device C
device A send notes to device C
device C recieve clock from device D but not from device A
this scenario is not possible in Auracle for X-Series
by removing one configuration level (compared to iConfig) you removed the possibility for controlling complex MIDI signal flow/filtering
4) missing feedback of invalid character limitation on renaming
renaming ports or presets to values that exceeds x characters should not be possible because it simply does not work.
please limit the possible characters of the input fields!
5) renaming of DIN out ports
Please add the possibillity for globally renaming DIN-OUT ports independently from DIN-IN ports.
I have all the DIN ports of my mioXL in use but in my setup theres only one single device where IN and OUT is plugged to the same device.
it is sooo tedious to have to use an excel sheet alongside the Auracle for X-Series GUI
6) internal routing improvement (OUT to IN)
I have to admit that this an edge case which can be solved by using a physical DIN midi cable...
My setup has 4 different clock sources. In order to able to share the majority of my preset configuration over multiple presets i had the following idea:
i use a midi cable that i patch from one DIN-OUT-X to another DIN-IN-Y on my mioXL
All my different clock sources within the different presets sends the clock to DIN-OUT-X
So i can share the signal flow configuration of the clock starting at DIN-IN-Y. no matter on which port the clock physically is plugged into.
Pretty sure mioXL hardware is capable for routing like that and its a software limitation not beeing able to route from OUT to IN
7) LIVE MIDI monitoring within the configuration software
Of course this is a massive feature request but it would be great to can open a monitoring popup on every IN or OUT port to see whats going on
Finally i was able to achieve exactly what i wanted. mioXL is really a great product!
But please improve the configuration software!
Further something like a roadmap of features in development would be great.
Thank you!

1) missing "Vanilla-preset"
It does not make any sense to me having any preconfigured routes on a factory-reset device.
Please include at least one "Vanilla preset" that has no active routes and all filters active.
This would be a great starting point for complex setups to avoid any unwanted MIDI signal flow.Due to the lack of toggling whole checkbox matrix it took me ages to create this vanilla preset manually.

Comments
Note: We do have a Clear All MIDI settings in the info button form the main page. My image has a reboot option which will be in the next Auracle X version.
2) You can, go into the RTP/Network page and disable all the ports but I understand that would be a bit annoying on a mioXL with 22 ports. Let me see if we already have this in our list of updates or not. If not, I'll add it.
3) The only difference in iConfig and Auracle X is the filter/remapping for CC is not added.
We've included the same filters on inputs and output for every port like iConfig. If you could show me how you would do it in iConfig vs. Auracle X I'd love to take a look.
4) Good point - Noted for developers
5) This might be an interesting one. I'd have to look into how we could do this in a good way.
6) I'm not 100% sure on what you are trying to do here. Sounds like you want to route in out (is this out from mioXL) to an IN.
If so you can do that. Where is the clock originating form in the scenario? software on a computer or a piece of hardware?
7) Yup. Love this idea. Definitely something that's been brought up. We've spoken many times about a MIDI monitor inside the software, in general, because we tend to use pocket MIDI and MIDI OX and MIDI monitor all the time to troubleshoot and find the missing routings in setups.
I'm glad you are enjoying the product. Auracle is is still a work in progress. We have a giant list of adds but we have been concentrating on getting ALL of our interfaces into a working software that's less confusing. We are currently rolling our AUDIO series interfaces in and, as seen in my image above, adding little features when we can, like rebooting from the software.
This feedback is great.
The other point of first priority is the ability to route a PC from any connected midi controoler to the Preset Selector. We all need to be able to benefit from the several presets supported by the MIOX new serie.
I also push for an internal midi monitor because we could not easily use MidiOx to see what happen.
Last points, maybe not Auracle related :
- I would appreciate to be be able to filter deeper than simply all CCs, I would appreciate to be able to punctually fillter CC values by input of the accepted or not (^) CC numbers.
- I would appreciate to be able to transpose midi notes.
Moving from ICM4+ connected to MIOXM to MIOXM connected to MIOXL has bring me some more RTP links, but now I often encounter link shut down (all all my synths then continue to play the same last chord....) , could it be my small ethernet 10O MB hub (and not Giga) which is suffering an overflow ? How to detect it ?
PS: I am on w10, I7 8 Gb RAM.
Best
I think we spoke about the RTP and such since your post so I'll leave that part.
Definitely would sneak peek it in the forum.....
For now, if you need options I can send a link to you for the BETA app.
