Midi Channel Filtering OUT

Hey all, just wanted to check if the image below depicts how to correctly filter out channels 12-16 from the selected device?

  • Jeez. Doesn't look like anyone even uses these forums now anyway. Like a ghost town.
  • Your setup is correct. You've blocked all data that has a specific channel on channels 12-16. This blocks the connection from the Alpha Base into the mio10 so that data will not get to anything.

I'm still getting notes played by the Alpha Base on channel 16 witgh the above config.
  • That's only possible if the Alpha Base is not on that channel OR it's being remapped for the notes.
I would verify the Alpha Base is on that channel. I would verify it's reserved into the correct HST port using the USB host reservation tab in Auracle X.

Also make sure you are saving this with your mio10 before closing Auracle X.

The Alpha Base's channels CANNOT be remapped (Go figure).
It uses channel 16 for the multi instrument channel.
Can I not block channel 16 from the Alpha Base?

  • You can filter out Ch. 16 info. You can also remap it to another channel, should you need.
You've filtered out most information in the image you had to start this thread.
Can you confirm that's still in place? I'm wondering if it got saved in properly or not.

Could you run MIDI monitor or some type or monitoring app on your computer to verify where the notes are coming in from the Alpha Base?
I'd like to see the value and channel. All the info from that send in some type of MIDI monitor to better figure out how to block things.

Yes its still in place. Same setup as the first image. That's why I don't understand how its still getting channel 16 info.
I don't use the DAW for MIDI at all. Pro Tools is just a tape machine. What Apps can I use to monitor MIDI. macOS.
  • MIDI Monitor - Snoize
    Pocket MIDI

Those are my most commonly used ones.

    Its the Input Output page...
The labelling of this software has always been counter intuitive.
The "OUTPUT" page needs the MIDI filtering for the INPUT of the device you are wanting to create filtering for.
  • Yeah it's a hard situation to label. Basically think if it as you are looking from the interfaces side. If you are connected to the MIDI IN DIN port on the interface you are looking to block it there. It was hard to do this because it got weird when looking at filtering on RTP ports and USB ports. The DIN could've been easier but we though the only constant would be the interface so we have to look at the filtering IN and OUT from that perspective. Hopefully that makes some sense.
I've been trying to think of a better way to do it but currently I don't have that.
At one point I did request some information/diagram data in the filtering pages to help people understand where they are filtering when you click a port in the flow.

  • Some thing like this.
CONTROLLER DIN 1 (MIDI OUT port)---> FILTER-->REMAP-->MIDI IN port on interface.
INPUT filter on the DIN 1 port. Do some highlighting and color to give flow info.
