MIOXL - Midi clock via RTP connection

Hi there. is there a way to pass midi clock from one master device (not being a computer) to the other devices and a computer being connected via RTP? I've checked the midi routing config but it doesn't seem to work although perfectly working via USB...

thx!  :)

  • This is possible. I'll pretend you have the device with the master clock in DIN1.
In AuracleX go to the MIDI routing tab.
Select DIN1 under the DIN section in the left column.
On the right side click the word DIN and add all the DIN ports you need clock to go to.
Also do the same for USB/DAW as needed and send to RTP1.

Once you connect RTP to your computer and select that network session in your DAW you will see the data on your comp.

If you don't want any other data going to these devices from the master device then we will have to look at different filtering options.
  • Thank you for your reply.
DIN/USB to DIN/USB midi clock works fine; it is the DIN/USB to (not from) RTP that doesn't seem to work.
  • update: the DIN/USB to RTP works for start but not for STOP.
I have yet to test the midi data (note on/off etc) BACK to the devices but they don't seem to appear separated as they do via USB connection (mioxl/device1; mioxl/device2 etc)
  • by default all the RTP ports have a routing to the ports separately.

I create a separate Session on my computer for each RTP MIDI port I connect.
The Local name can be anything, usually I make this the name fo the gear connected to the port that it's routed to.

I’ve had my Mio XL for a few years but haven’t been able to route the timecode as I want.  It is possible?  I’m hoping one of you can show me what I need to do. I’ve got a few synths but let me give you a scenario with just 3 synths.

Kronos, Karma and Triton Extreme.  All set as local off, and all connected midi din in and out into the Mio XL.  Kronos is the source of the time code.

I want time code to go from Kronos to both Karma and Extreme via Midi DIN through the Mio XL.  I don’t want Kronos to trigger sounds on Karma, but I do want the Kronos to trigger sounds on Extreme and (back to) Kronos.  And I want the Karma and Extreme to each trigger themselves via the Mio XL.

I’d be very grateful if someone say whether or not this is possible with the Mio XL, and if so how to set it up.

(I have a MUTO Midi Express XT and it’s so easy to set up this sort of arrangement – Midi timecode goes to all midi gear by default.)

    Thanks

    Steve

  • I have now found a work-around for this by using one of the DIN pairs (8) to loop the signal using one short midi lead from the in to the out, and naming this a Timecode, and then setting DIN 8 as muting all On and Off notes.  I can now use this to to also change patches on the synths from the master irrespective of whether the master is triggering sounds on the synths.  It's not the best solution and I think the MioXL should be doing this, not the work-around.

  • Hello!

When connecting Mio XL via RTP (Macbook Pro 16 intel core i7, Mac OS Big Sur, Cubase 11, 100 Mbit adapter) the following happens. Everything works fine until, for example, the midi clock from Cubase is sent to port 1 or any other.

At the same time, there is a noticeable delay in the execution of midi notes on the keyboard directed to the same port where the midi clock is sent. Is this a feature of rtp or do I need some special settings?

    Thanks
